Emergency Shelter

  • Roof Above: Men's Shelter
    A low-barrier emergency shelter for men experiencing homelessness, providing overnight beds, meals, and connections to housing services.
  • Safe Alliance
    Confidential emergency shelter and safety services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • The Salvation Army Center of Hope
    Single women and families with children experiencing homelessness (note: it is a structured shelter program with curfews and case management)

Basic Necessities

  • Roof Above: Day Center
    Daytime access to showers, laundry, mail services, meals, and case management for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Crisis Assistance
    Helps prevent homelessness by providing emergency rent, utility assistance, clothing, and household goods.
  • Project Outpour CLT
    Provides free mobile showers and hygiene supplies/services to neighbors moving through homelessness. From Tuesday through Friday, at various locations listed on the website provided.

Physical & Mental Health

  • Charlotte Community Health Clinic
    Delivers affordable, comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health services to uninsured, underinsured, and low-income residents in the Charlotte area.
  • Care Ring
    A low-barrier emergency shelter for men experiencing homelessness, providing overnight beds, meals, and connections to housing services.
  • Hopeway
    It offers residential and outpatient mental health programs for adults, adolescents, veterans, those with eating disorders, and other specialized groups, providing a continuum of care between hospital and home.

Veteran Resources

  • Veterans Services of the Carolinas
    Assistance with housing, employment, healthcare, or community reintegration for veterans.
  • Soldiers' Angels, Charlotte
    Once a month on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, Soldier's Angels offers food assistance for veterans and service members.
  • Veterans Bridge Home
    Connects veterans to employment, housing, and healthcare resources.

Family & Children

  • Charlotte Family Housing
    Offers shelter and rehousing programs for working families experiencing homelessness.
  • Bright Blessings
    This program focuses on celebrating and supporting homeless and disadvantaged youth through programs that honor birthdays, new babies, academic success, and basic needs.
  • The Relatives
    Supports youth in crisis with shelter, counseling, and outreach services.

LGBTQ+ Resources

  • RAIN, Inc.
    It provides medical, social, and educational support to people living with HIV and those at risk.
  • PFLAG Charlotte
    Offers peer support, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ individuals and their families.
  • Time Out Youth
    Supports LGBTQ youth through housing assistance, crisis support, and community programming.

    Focuses on migrants targeted by federal immigration enforcement, providing free legal representation and community organizing support to people in detention or facing deportation.

  • Habitat for Humanity
    Builds and repairs affordable homes and sells low-cost items through ReStores. Their programs provide homes and financial education/help.

    Provides free civil legal services, including help with benefits, housing, and immigration issues.
